What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

About our bath re-enamelling in Heath End

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and people most frequently call us about a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a coloured bath you want in white.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Heath End questions

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We give you timings with the quote.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Heath End?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Have chips seen to early

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.
