Bath re-enamelling near Heddle

About our bath re-enamelling in Heddle

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Our repair technicians work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are an old resurfacing that’s failing and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repair or replace in Heddle?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

FAQs for Heddle

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Several chips and rust patches

What to look for in a quote

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

How to compare quotes

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
