About our bath re-enamelling in Herstmonceux
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
What a repair cannot fix
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- A bath that’s rusted through
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
How to care for the repair
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Have chips seen to early
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Repair or replace in Herstmonceux?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is usually much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Why book with us
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
- Honest advice, even when it means no job

DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
Herstmonceux: your questions answered
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Do the materials smell?
Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
When can you do it?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
Do you cover Herstmonceux?
Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Herstmonceux from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Will there be fumes?
Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
How the visit works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes a full day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the area is dry
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
How to get a price
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.
