Bath re-enamelling in Hillmoor without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Whether it’s a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and chips and rust in more than one place, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the next day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Read our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Hillmoor

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hillmoor use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Hillmoor, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

FAQs for Hillmoor

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

What affects the price in Hillmoor

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Hillmoor. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hillmoor. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
