Bath re-enamelling at your home in Holme Lacy

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and staining under the taps and around the waste, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

What we do, step by step

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day, including clearing up.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour-matched on site
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Landlord and trade work in Holme Lacy

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Holme Lacy use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

When to call us in Holme Lacy

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who turns up on the day
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How your room will be protected
  • How the colour is matched

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
