How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
Are there extra charges for Hoyle?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
How long does re-enamelling last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Bath re-enamelling in Hoyle, done in place
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. If you’re dealing with staining under the taps and around the waste and lots of chips and rust spots, we can typically put it right, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths alike.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Common problems we fix in Hoyle
Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, usually first under the taps and around the waste.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
Before booking anyone
- How the room is protected while they work
- Aftercare advice
- Who will actually do the work
- How soon you can use it again
Repair or replace: which is better?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hoyle. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why us?
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Work done at your home or business
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- Rooms protected and left tidy

Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Have chips seen to early
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
When we would advise against a repair
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
