Bath re-enamelling in Inkerman, done in place

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Typical jobs include staining under the taps and around the waste and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

What we’re called out for in Inkerman

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches

When a repair is not the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

Repairing versus replacing in Inkerman

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • A fixed quote before you book

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Inkerman. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Questions from Inkerman

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Inkerman?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
