Trusted bath re-enamelling in Renfrew

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Renfrew

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Common call-outs are for brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

What we are called out for in Renfrew

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long it needs to cure
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What prep work is covered
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

10 questions to ask before booking

Repair or replace in Renfrew?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour-matched on site

Take a look at our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

When we’d advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Renfrew: your questions answered

Do you work in Renfrew?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Renfrew. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Renfrew?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.
