About our bath re-enamelling in Johnstown
Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a roll-top that’s seen better days.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Work for landlords and builders
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.
Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
What we’re called out for in Johnstown
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.
You may need us if you’ve spotted:
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
What your quote should include
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What happens if they find more damage
- What prep work is covered
Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Repairing versus replacing in Johnstown
A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- The type of damage
- The material and finish
- How many items we do on one visit
- How much damage there is
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed quote
Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- One picture of the whole bath
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
Getting a price
