FAQs for Kinmuck

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

What areas do you cover?

All of Aberdeenshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Aberdeenshire.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Kinmuck

We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It normally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. If you are dealing with a coating lifting around the plughole and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can help.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Aberdeenshire.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Kinmuck. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

For anyone letting property in or around Kinmuck, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.
