How we handle bath re-enamelling in Alford

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Whether it’s a roll-top that’s seen better days and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can usually put it right.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Alford. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Aberdeenshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Alford questions

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What happens after I send pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Repairing versus replacing in Alford

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What you get with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Typically one visit, start to finish

See our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Repair dripping taps early

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Alford?

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Stains that will not shift
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Before you book anyone

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • When it can be used again

Our hiring checklist

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
