How to compare quotes

Bath re-enamelling in Garioch without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It typically takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. If you are dealing with several chips and rust patches and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Garioch and across Aberdeenshire.

Common questions in Garioch

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Garioch

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
