Bath re-enamelling & resurfacing in Knapton, York
Fixed-price bath re-enamelling in Knapton and the surrounding area, usually in one visit and guaranteed for a year.
- Resurfacing from £350
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Lots of chips and rust spots

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Knapton. The price reflects:
- Access to the area
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How much damage there is
- Whether we combine several jobs
We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Knapton. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from pictures
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:
- Natural light rather than flash
- A photo taken from further back
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Bath re-enamelling in Knapton, done in place
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Typical jobs include wear marks under the taps and chips and rust in more than one place, across acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Knapton
Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Common questions in Knapton
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
What happens after I send pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Do you cover the whole of York?
We work UK-wide, so Knapton is covered. Prices do not change with location.
Will there be fumes?
Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Why us?
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- A fixed quote before booking
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- Nothing taken out or refitted

The process
Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Related advice
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Honest limits
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Materials we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
How to look after the repair
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
