About our bath re-enamelling in Tang Hall
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is generally the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about thin, worn enamel in places and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- How much damage there is
- The colour and finish to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Doing more than one item at once
Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.
How to get a fixed quote
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- The material, if you know it
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
If you’re in Tang Hall and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Tang Hall: your questions answered
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
Do the materials smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Can landlords book you?
Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
The process
We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Point us to the nearest place to park
How to get a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Honest limits
We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
- A bath split right through the body
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Materials we repair
- Basins & shower trays

- Pressed steel baths
Why repair rather than replace?
A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
What you get with us
