Bath repair at your home in York
You can usually use the bath the next day. We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about rust spots where the enamel has gone and cracks and holes in acrylic baths.
Nearly all the chips we see starts with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust once water gets in. Acrylic baths, on the other hand, crack when they flex, usually near the taps or the waste.
When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

York: your questions answered
When can I use it again after the repair?
Usually the same day or the next, depending on the job. We’ll confirm the exact time when we finish.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you protect the room?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and clean up before we leave.
Does someone need to be in?
Yes, usually. We need access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.
