Bath re-enamelling in Latton

Bath re-enamelling in Latton, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Whether it’s chips and rust in more than one place and worn patches where water runs and sits, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Repairing versus replacing in Latton

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes most of the day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

Most clients in Latton get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When we would advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
