Bath re-enamelling in Lindwell

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a full day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

About our bath re-enamelling in Lindwell

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and lots of chips and rust spots.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Landlord and trade work in Lindwell

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Lindwell. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Lindwell: your questions answered

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
