About our bath re-enamelling in Lee Mount
When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and an outdated colour you’d like to change.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

The process
When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes a full day. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Clear the area around the damage

Related advice
Should you replace it?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Lee Mount questions
What areas do you cover?
We work UK-wide, so Lee Mount is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.
Is it messy?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.
How long does re-enamelling last?
Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The material
- Doing more than one item at once
- The size and number of damaged areas
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
Send photos for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How to care for the repair
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in Lee Mount?
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Wear marks under the taps
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
What your quote should include
- Whether the price covers travel
- What aftercare is recommended
- How the colour is matched
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
When a repair isn’t the answer
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
