Bath re-enamelling in Liswerry without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s lots of chips and rust spots and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Advice

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Liswerry, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Common problems we fix in Liswerry

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

What to look for in a quote

  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Aftercare advice
  • How the room is protected while they work
