Bath re-enamelling in Llanddoged

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Llanddoged

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We work on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are staining under the taps and around the waste and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

The process

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Llanddoged

Does the bath have to be removed?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Llanddoged?

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Llanddoged

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Llanddoged. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
