Questions from Llanwarne

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Are there extra charges for Llanwarne?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Llanwarne. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

About our bath re-enamelling in Llanwarne

The bath stays where it is, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It typically takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. Whether it’s an old resurfacing that’s failing and a coloured bath you want in white, we can generally put it right, on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths alike.

What we are called out for in Llanwarne

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

The things clients normally mention when they call are:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Llanwarne as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How the visit works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a full day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
