Bath re-enamelling in Pencoyd without replacing anything
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Herefordshire.

When a repair isn’t the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Holes rusted through the metal
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
What we work on
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
When to call us in Pencoyd
Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Look out for any of the following:
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Wear marks under the taps

Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Repairing versus replacing in Pencoyd
Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why book with us
- We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
- Work done at your home or business
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- Colour-matched on site

Pencoyd: your questions answered
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
What do you need from me?
Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
How long does re-enamelling last?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Will there be fumes?
Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Are there extra charges for Pencoyd?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.
Which areas do you work in?
Across the UK, so Pencoyd is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

- How many areas need work
- Access to the area
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
