How we handle bath re-enamelling in Longhill
We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We’re frequently asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

For landlords and businesses
If you manage property in Longhill, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- The colour and finish to match
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Doing more than one item at once
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- The material, if you know it
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.
Looking after it afterwards
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Respect the curing time we give you
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
Longhill: your questions answered
How long is the bath unusable?
Typically one day, with the bath ready the next day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.
Do you cover Longhill?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Longhill. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Which areas do you work in?
We cover the entire UK, including Longhill and the rest of Hull. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.
The process
You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.
How to prepare
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Point us to the nearest place to park
Get a quote
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Advice
Should you replace it?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
