Bath re-enamelling in Lower Layham without replacing anything

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a roll-top that’s seen better days and a coloured bath you want in white.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

What your quote should include

  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Repairing versus replacing in Lower Layham

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why book with us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Lower Layham

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Lower Layham included. Travel is included in the price.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Lower Layham. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Lower Layham. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
