Bath re-enamelling in Lyddington without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Whether it’s a roll-top that’s seen better days and chips and rust in more than one place, we can typically put it right.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

If you are in Lyddington and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Lyddington questions

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. You are under no obligation.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Lyddington.

Repair or replace in Lyddington?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • One price list for the whole UK

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

What we’re called out for in Lyddington

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Before booking anyone

  • How the colour is matched
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What preparation is included

How to compare quotes

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
