Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Bath re-enamelling in Maesyfed, done in place

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It normally takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and wear marks under the taps.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Maesyfed questions

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you cover the whole of Powys?

All of Powys, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

What affects the price in Maesyfed

Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Maesyfed. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it

If you’re in Maesyfed and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Maesyfed?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

Before booking anyone

  • How the colour is matched
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
