How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Marazion

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Repair or replace in Marazion?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day, with the bath back in use the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Steel that has corroded right through

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
