Should you replace it?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Bath re-enamelling in Millbrook, done in place
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Typical jobs include a coating lifting around the plughole and wear marks under the taps, in basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Millbrook as everywhere else we work.

Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
What we can’t put right
Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
How to look after the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Have chips seen to early
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Repair dripping taps early
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
Work for landlords and builders
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
What we’re called out for in Millbrook
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
What to look for in a quote
- How long it needs to cure
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- If travel is included in the price
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The material
- The colour and finish to match
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your photos
Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:
- One picture of the whole bath
- Natural light rather than flash
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Millbrook
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.
What happens after I send pictures?
You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You are under no obligation.
Are there extra charges for Millbrook?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
How it works
We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow a full day, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.
Before we arrive
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
