Need bath re-enamelling in Minnigaff?

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Minnigaff

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It typically takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Whether it’s a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and worn patches where water runs and sits, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Repair or replace in Minnigaff?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Related advice

Minnigaff: your questions answered

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Minnigaff. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Common problems we fix in Minnigaff

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

What your quote should include

  • How your room will be protected
  • What preparation is included
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How changes to the job are handled

10 questions to ask before booking

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
