Bath re-enamelling in Newton Stewart, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. If you’re dealing with a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can help, whatever the material.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Newton Stewart

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.

Repair or replace in Newton Stewart?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Newton Stewart. What changes the price is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Newton Stewart, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Newton Stewart questions

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Newton Stewart

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Before booking anyone

  • How to look after the finish
  • How the colour is matched
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
