Bath re-enamelling in Mixenden

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Mixenden use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Bath re-enamelling in Mixenden, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Our repair technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and chips and rust in more than one place.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Repairing versus replacing in Mixenden

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why Mixenden customers choose us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Everything repaired in place

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Mixenden. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job without visiting.

When to call us in Mixenden

Older baths often have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps

Before booking anyone

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How your room will be protected
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What aftercare is recommended

Choosing a repair company

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath that is rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
