Need bath re-enamelling in Mongleath?

Bath re-enamelling in Mongleath, done in place

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Common call-outs are for stains that won’t shift and a coating lifting around the plughole, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Mongleath?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Stains that will not shift

Our hiring checklist

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Mongleath questions

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We will confirm timings when we quote.

Do you cover Mongleath?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Mongleath for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to the best part of a day.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.
