Bath re-enamelling in Mud Row without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Whether it’s an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and chips and rust in more than one place, we can generally put it right.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Mud Row. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Questions from Mud Row

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Typically, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Mud Row?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Repairing versus replacing in Mud Row

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Honest limits

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Mud Row

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

  • Victorian roll-tops

Landlord and trade work in Mud Row

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

If you manage property in Mud Row, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

When to call us in Mud Row

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
