Book bath re-enamelling in Mynydd Llandegai

Mynydd Llandegai: your questions answered

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do you cover Mynydd Llandegai?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Mynydd Llandegai from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

About our bath re-enamelling in Mynydd Llandegai

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and staining under the taps and around the waste, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Gwynedd.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

The process

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day, including clearing up.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Same prices wherever you are

See our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Never use suction bath mats

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Mynydd Llandegai. The price comes down to:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
