How we handle bath re-enamelling in Nangreaves

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are chips and rust in more than one place and a coating lifting around the plughole.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Nangreaves, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Questions from Nangreaves

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Generally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a full day in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Repairing versus replacing in Nangreaves

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What you get with us

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How hard the colour is to match

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone photos are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Most customers in Nangreaves get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

When to call us in Nangreaves

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether they match the colour on site
