Bath re-enamelling in New Town, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and lots of chips and rust spots.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear the area around the damage

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in New Town use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

For anyone letting property in or around New Town, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together.
