Bath re-enamelling at your home in Newhey
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are worn patches where water runs and sits and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Store bottles off the bath
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
When to call us in Newhey
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Clients typically contact us about:
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Stains that won’t shift
- Several chips and rust patches
What your quote should include
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- How changes to the job are handled
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
How it works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day, including clearing up.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
Getting a price
To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Related advice
What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Should you replace it?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Why us?

Newhey questions
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- How many areas need work
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Doing more than one item at once
What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
How to get a fixed price
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- A picture taken from further back
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Details of any past repairs
You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
