Bath Re-enamelling in Rochdale

Our bath re-enamelling service in Rochdale

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a coloured bath you want in white and several chips and rust patches.

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for a full day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

What you will pay

Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What a repair can’t fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Questions from Rochdale

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, so Rochdale is covered. Prices do not change with location.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
