Bath re-enamelling in Newlands, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. If you are dealing with a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, we can help, whatever the material.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Newlands and across Nottinghamshire.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How it works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Newlands?

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What your quote should include

  • Who turns up on the day
  • What preparation is included
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in Newlands?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Newlands: your questions answered

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you cover Newlands?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Newlands. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
