Bath re-enamelling in Norton, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. If you are dealing with wear marks under the taps and a roll-top that’s seen better days, we can normally put it right, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Norton

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off

10 questions to ask before booking

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Norton

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

What affects the price in Norton

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

How it works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Questions from Norton

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
