How we handle bath re-enamelling in Pen-marc
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing, in acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How it works
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Ensure the area is dry

Do you hold any accreditations?

Do I have to be there?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you price it without visiting?
Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Pen-marc?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CF62 postcode.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in Pen-marc?
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. The body of the bath is normally perfectly sound.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Wear marks under the taps
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- A coating lifting around the plughole

What we cannot put right
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

- Victorian roll-tops
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:
- What kind of damage it is
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- How many areas need work
- The material and finish
We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Pen-marc. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Quotes from your photos
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your CF62 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Should you replace it?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Looking after it afterwards
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Have chips seen to early
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
