What we cannot put right

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Bath re-enamelling in Pontnewynydd without replacing anything

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage
  • The colour and finish to match

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

If you are in Pontnewynydd and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Should you replace it?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Landlords, agents and businesses in Pontnewynydd

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around Pontnewynydd, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Repair dripping taps early

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pontnewynydd questions

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
