Bath re-enamelling for Poulshot homes

Bath re-enamelling in Poulshot, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Typical jobs include thin, worn enamel in places and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Questions from Poulshot

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Wiltshire.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Poulshot?

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is typically perfectly sound.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Poulshot, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Poulshot use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Poulshot. The price reflects:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Never use suction bath mats

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
