Bath re-enamelling for Pulborough homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Pulborough

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the day after. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are thin, worn enamel in places and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Pulborough and across West Sussex.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Pulborough questions

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Repair dripping taps early

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

The process

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for the best part of a day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Related advice

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

When to call us in Pulborough

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, usually first under the taps and around the waste.

Common reasons people in Pulborough contact us are:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

What your quote should include

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • When it can be used again
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What prep work is covered

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
