About our bath re-enamelling in Ramsey Hollow

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the next day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Ramsey Hollow?

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.

The things clients typically mention when they call include:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How to care for the finish
  • How your room will be protected

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Ramsey Hollow questions

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Do you work in Ramsey Hollow?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Ramsey Hollow. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any details about the material

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.
