Bath re-enamelling for Redding homes

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Redding

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Generally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Redding.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Redding

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

What happens on the day

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes most of the day. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

What affects the price in Redding

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Redding. The price reflects:

  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Redding. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Any details about the material
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • No need to remove anything
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Read our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

What we are called out for in Redding

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

Look out for these signs:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Several chips and rust patches

What to look for in a quote

  • Aftercare advice
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
