  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.

Advice

About our bath re-enamelling in Robin Hood

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Typical jobs include brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Never use suction bath mats

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Robin Hood

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Robin Hood.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
