Bath re-enamelling in Lawns

About our bath re-enamelling in Lawns

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and people most often call us about a coloured bath you want in white and thin, worn enamel in places.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What affects the price in Lawns

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Most customers in Lawns get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Repair or replace in Lawns?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Lawns?

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How your room will be protected

How to compare quotes

Landlords, agents and businesses in Lawns

For anyone letting property in or around Lawns, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Lawns questions

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Typically, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
