Bath re-enamelling at your home in Roedean
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We are frequently asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and worn patches where water runs and sits, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Roedean and across Brighton and Hove.

What a repair can’t fix
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
Repair or replace: which is better?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Roedean. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Fix dripping taps quickly
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The process
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a full day. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The material and finish
- How easy the damage is to reach
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
Send pictures for a quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A photo taken from further back
- Details of any past repairs
To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Work for landlords and builders
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
