Bath re-enamelling in Roundhay without replacing anything
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you are dealing with a peeling or bubbling previous coating and thin, worn enamel in places, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Access to the area
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The material
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your photos
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Something in shot to show the size
- Where you are, by postcode
- Any details about the material
- One picture of the entire bath
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear the area around the damage
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
Ask for a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

What a repair cannot fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
DIY kit or professional repair?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
Roundhay: your questions answered
Is repairing better than replacing?
Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
How soon can you come?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Which areas do you work in?
We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.
How do I book?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Common problems we fix in Roundhay
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
It’s worth getting a quote if you see:
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
Comparing quotes
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Aftercare advice
- Whether they match the colour on site
- Whether a trained technician does the job

Repairing versus replacing in Roundhay
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
